Hi i have a 2002 cg 125, up until recently it has run really well, but for some reason I have to thrash the nuts of it in 4th gear to get over 50mph...............(even on non windy days on a flat road). What could be causing this? The minute i get into 5th its like it just gives up all hope! Love my bike but its becomming annoying now.....!

Help please

To many cookies!

Have you checked the chain + sprockets? You'd be amazed at how much power a badly adjusted/fucked chain can rob.

Check things like oil levels etc.

Although if it came on all of a sudden, your best option would be to whip the carb off and give the jet a blow out (not sure about the CG carb but you shouldn't need to strip it, just take the float bowl off which will reveal the jet)

If you have got a bit of shit in the jet (easily done if it doesn't have a fuel filter) then it will reduce the overall power by quite a margin.

"Bottoming out" is when your suspension uses up all of it's travel Eh?

Regarding the loss of speed, have you checked your tyres? You can lose a fair bit of power, engery and speed if your riding on squidgy flat tyres.

Well, things that you can check;
Air filter, is it clean or encrusted with filth?
Fresh fuel in the tank? If you've run it on reserve recently, it could have pulled crap out the bottom of the tank into the carb?

Otherwise, I dunno Laughing

take the plug out ind brush it with a wire brush, if it hasnt been cleaned for a while i suppose that could cause it do stop climbing in 5th Wink (Remember to blow away the excess dust before you put the plug back in! you dont want that shit in your engine!)

How fast does it go if you're, say, going flat on a straight road with little wind? the Gs is a tempromental bugger. some days all it'll do is 50, yet then the next day it may do 60-65 fairly easily in similar conditions Confused

other than that, just try what everyone else said Rolling Eyes
Hope this helps

Rob Thumbs Up

Edit: tell us what colour the plug is when you get it out Thumbs Up
