Arrrgh, car immobiliser!

My missus has one of them hatch-back Rover 214's.
Ive booked it in for a service as its in need of one. Just my luck, the key fob that turns the immobiliser off and opens the car has decided to die, i replaced the battery with no joy.

How do i get it to the garage now?!

I had the exact same problem, immobilizer wouldn't switch of the alarm which meant the car wouldn't start. This may or may not help but a local mechanic suggested that i spray the wires connecting to the starter motor with some WD40 then plug them back in, not sure what the starter motor has to do with the alarm system but it worked! Couldn't believe it.

He says that it solves a lot of the problems with immobilizers, i'm quite surprised as there's nothing about this on the net.

resetting fob key
1. take out battery
2. hold each button in for 10 secs (not both at same time)
3. replace battery
4. unlock car then press the locking button on fob key fast 4 times
5. the fob key is reset and should be in tandom with the alarm
may or may not work,give it a go,

The mechanic i usually go to got me the info for resetting the fob.
Open the car with the key, hold the fob close to the car and press the button 4 times in quick succession.
Ive done this, many many times, i took the battery out. I dissconnected the battery and the starter motor as mentioned above. No luck.
She doesn't have a spare, so how can i drive the bloody thing?!

Is the red LED light on constantly on the dash with the ignition switched on?

Have you got the security overide code? Usually written or printed on a card with the handbook, like the radio code, four digits.

You turn the key in the door lock one way then the other in the right pattern.kinda like a lock on a safe.
