Thought I would share this gem as there are a few Linux people on here.

https://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer

If you are on Ubuntu:

Code:
sudo apt-get install get-iplayer

Pretends to be an iPhone and allows you to download and stream radio and TV shows. Genius.

If you have the dependencies it can also convert them to other formats after download.

An hour long show is about 225mb, or up to 700 in HD.

Looks like a terminal only app. for now until someone writes a frontend for it.

It makes the i-player website think that the request for the download has come from an i-phone. The program itself will just be command line.

Functionality wise it is command line only. There are GUIs available. The command line is, however, relatively easy to use. This:

Code:
get-iplayer --get 'James May' --output '/home/Videos'

Will download all of James May's Toy Stories and put them in your Videos folder.

To search simply type get-iplayer followed by your search terms in inverted commas. Using --get will download matches rather than display them on the screen. To download a particular program search for it then type:

Code:
get-iplayer --get 12345

12345 being the number of the show which you can find on the search matches.

Web based GUI which looks difficult to set up.

Mac OSX GUI.

Java GUI (doesn't work on mine.)

Also a a couple of KDE based GUIs that run in Kommander file browser that are available on the get-iplayer site (URL in original post).
