And another one!!

Who here has suffered with what is known as "dry socket"?? - following tooth extraction. If you have had it you will know it.

No amount of pain killers work and sadly the only thing that has brought relief is oil of cloves which is foul tasting but amazing numbing properties......

I had never come across this condition before and being that it is far worse than childbirth along with needles in your eyes, cannot believe I wasnt aware of it before!

If you suffer in the future...oil of cloves is your ONLY friend. You will be ready to kill on sight and have not a kind word to say to anyone....such pain i have never known.... Evil or Very Mad

The point of this post.....if you have suffered with it, HOW LONG DID IT GO ON FOR!!!!

Go back to the dentist and get them to clean it out and pack it with a dressing soaked in analgesic.

I had 3 wisdom teeth removed and 1 week later had a wonderful combination of two dry sockets and an abcess (from the tooth the wisdom teeth impacted upon).
Oh the joy. Went to the dentist, twas a trainee, stuffed the analgesic in with the vigour of a turkey stuffer, nearest I've come to punching a dentist ever.
Luckily I had private medical cover (which up until now have never had to use), what a difference a qualified maxillofacial surgeon can make, 30 seconds pain gone, 2 days later right as rain.

I'd have thought common sense would dictate that they squirt some local anaesthetic into the socket and wait for a minute before applying the packing. Maybe not though, I do wonder what they they teach them at medical school these days.

I know my sympathy should be with Stick at this time, but I cant help thiking of poor Goose.

As for dentists going to medical school, surely they go to dentist school intead.

Although I have check ups from time to time, I've never needed anything doing to my teeth. So I have yet to suffer the horrors of painful teeth or gums.

When I was at uni, there was a guy studying to be a dentist. Apparently he did eventually qualify, and it's scary that he is let loose on the public.

One time when Mo had nearly finished a frantic essay on PC that should have been done weeks ago and had to be in the next day, Ambi, decided to start playing with the fuse box because he was a bit bored, and turned off the electricty...

Be carefull with it ,i had a upper back tooth pulled a couple years ago and i thougt the continuing pain was dry socket till after about 4 days i was on shit loads of pain killers and had not slept in 2 days, it got to a point where i thought i had blocked ears so i held my nose closed and blew too clear, next thing i see is green puss running out of my nostrils and mouth.
Well an hour later im at the hospital with needles in my arm and 3 bags of antibiotics, the doctor said it had gone septic and it could have been very serious had i not gone to them. Turns out somtimes when you have an upper back tooth pulled the roots can be in the nasal cavity and when it is removed there is a hole between you mouth and the cavity which can cause an infection.
So dont leave it too long.
