I`m not familiar with DT`s, but at a guess thermostat stuck and not opening.

I'd agree wit ha dodgy thermostat, in the end the one in my TZR was taken out (I found out from a mate of mine) It shouldn't do it any harm to run without a thermostat, from what I've been told it will just take longer to warm the coolant up initially Smile

Failing that, did you bleed the system? If it's got an air lock I'd expect it to over heat

It could be lots of things:

It could be a poorly bled cooling system, a dodgy thermostat, or a blown head gasket. You need to try to find out if you have a coolant leak, and do some investigation before you decide on the cause. We won't be able to give you a definitive answer without more information though.

Is there a water leak?

What did the temperature gauge say?

Are all the hoses and gaskets tight?

if it's non of the above then check things like is the rad cap sealing and are there any air leaks in the reed block etc causing it to run lean etc...also possible crank seal failure if it like I said any of the above!!

the_godfather and bladerunner,
both list other things worth looking at after you check the stat, although I don`t think that an air leak or dodgy reeds are the problem (they would show up as tick over problems and very pale deposits on the spark plug)

For yam spares I check fleabay or the interwebnet thing, and often end up buying from stinkwheels or yambits (both good dealers)
