For some reason today my zx7r has been having trouble with the sidestand switch.

basically when i let go of the clutch to move off the engine cuts out much like what happens when the side stand is left down.

now when i fiddle with the wires leading from the sidestand into the engine i can get it to work but its pretty random.

any ideas what is causing this? not had this problem until today, is there a way to remove it completely, i've never had the side stand stay down before so not fussed about the safety feature.

Trying spraying WD40 where the wires plug into the side stand switch, chances are it's just dirty.

Expect you'll be able to remove the side stand cut out by just joining together the two wires the go to the switch.

The switches on the stand become tempremental after time as you have found.

So, do what most ZXR/ZX7 owners do and bypass it. Basically, just connect the two wires together, and remember to kick up your stand before you pull away! Wink

If you follow the wires along under the tank / airbox, there are a couple of bullet connectors, disconnect these and connect them together leaving the stand switch out of the circuit. Thumbs Up

If the switch is faulty replace it, It`s a safety device.

as others have said you could bypass it (for a couple of days), this will also show if the switch is faulty
