Now i love the tones that come from my guitars..woody...bright..twangy..But i also love NOISE and sometimes
a Stack of Orange Amps ain't noisy enough. So i use a plethora of effects...some analog pedals..some vritual.

I'll cut to the chase...Guitar to MIDI. Its not new, but its usually expensive. Until now:

Just need to pull my finger out and sort the latency so I can have 6 strings instead of 4, and put it into a guitar body.

I have a Roland VG-88 for midi stuff, although that's pretty much exclusively guitar based modelling.

I did borrow another Roland module from a mate for a bit and this did do piano/brass instruments etc but it was very difficult to get set up correctly and would often get lost if you tried to play any quick phrases. Midi is ok to play around with but essentially it's quite gimmicky IMO and I'd certainly never find a use for it live.

That MIDI plank of Shaggy's look so crap its coolness is assured . (no-way i could build anything like that )
What kind of things do you trigger? I suspect some Bass synth reinforcement?
One of the reasons i've not looked into the Roland VG stuff was its price and installation. Sounds good...can't knock it.

I sometimes use a Variax 300 guitar. It uses piezo bridge pickups to capture each individual string’s
vibrations, and process the signals through software algorithms that captures the physical and electronic
properties of the guitars that have been modeled (26 including sitar,reso and acoustics). But it doesn't do MIDI

I don't find MIDI gimmicky...old and restrictive maybe.

I also use GuitarRig and use a MIDI footboard..works great with 4ms latency at 24/96 so no noticeable delay, has some nice features but it doesn't turn my guitar into a drumkit Whereas that Sonuus G2M will keep the neighbours guessing 'WTF is he doing now' for a good while longer.

You'll be in noodling heaven. I think the headless look will suit your cosmic guitar. What bodies you thinking of? BC Rich style or more trad or maybe a Gibson Firebird (loads of room for inside trickery) Mind you looking at your pic, you'll have a bigger choice.
Would love to see you complete it.

Shaggy, that will be one radical axe.

Agonyst, maybe its related to your pickups. Or your placement of head and cab in relation to the stage microphones or even a stage monitor/wedge with a poor foldback mix.
I'd ask the question in the Sound on Sound guitar forum.

Personally i like all types of guitar amps. Valve/SS but did send an Epiphone hybrid amp back. Horrid digital reverb and loud noisefloor.
I occasionaly play live and use a 1980 Peavey Bandit (75w) combo. Very very clinical even when driven hard. Its the only large amp i have now...apart from a Marshall 40 Valvestate(can only produce 1 nice tone...pants)

So most of my playing is on little practise combos. Orange Tiny Terror, Orange Crush 10 and one of those little Orange Microcrush things .
Also got a modded Epiphone valve Jnr. Maybe 5watts but like the Tiny Terror its valve so its still loud I use a power soak so i can drive the valves hard enough to sound nice, yet not make my ears bleed.
On one of the Strats i use noiseless pups..perfect for playing in rooms with dimmers and lots of electrical gear...Not so good for Shredding tho
