Weak antifreeze solution tends to make mushy ice crystals rather than solid ice so should be OK, but it will overheat due to restricted circulation if run while like that.

Also most engines have plugs which pop out to relieve pressure.

Normally meant to be a 50/50 mix, and with a capacity of 2.3L that bottle would leave it well short of a 50/50 mix.

All the best

Hi

Had a quick look:-

https://www.tpub.com/content/constructionmisc/TM-5-3820-245-14-P/TM-5-3820-245-14-P0178.htm

From that it would appear that even a 20% mix would keep the freezing point down to -10. With luck it hasn't frozen solid.

All the best

Keith

You need to sort it ASAP IMO, if you can take the engine inside and thaw it if not wrap it up in an electric blanket. If you leave it, it will partually thaw then refreeze doing more damage. If you leave it it will get worse.

The pipes aren't the issue it's the casings where it is going to do damage try to get a heater or something on it and drain it.

No it's quick likely fucked.

When water freezes it expands when it expands in a closed system it makes it a non closed system I.e. cracking parts of your engine you do not want cracks in.

Fan heater may be a bit safer than a kettle.

Hi

Not sure I would want to warm it up quickly (heat tends to make things expand).

If you disconnect the lower water hoses and water pump drain screw (and any other drains low in the system) then hopefully anything that melts will drain out and not be able to refreeze. If you do this make sure the stuff drains into something to collect it (antifreeze is poisonous even in very small quantities and lots of small animals will drink it).

All the best

Keith

warm water might work but I think it would take a while and the last thing you wanna do is chuck a load of water in the road/your garden etc. Sort it sooner rather than later though.

IMO a kettle and hot water is a better option than leaving it.

You need a hell of alot of salt, I dumped half a kilo onto my path and all it did was make rice crispy noises, it was slightly less icey but still bad.

It's worth wasting a few quids worth of salt to get the bike inside though. Smile Although his path may be long I 'spose making it more expensive. The rice crispy noises are ace though.

its not as simple as that. it means getting it down the path onto the main road and up a really steep hill to get it in my garrage as the garrage is behind the house.
