We just had a member join Gixerjunkies. Check him out.
| Quote: | Just joined and only recently got back on a bike. In 2003 I was knocked off my CBR600 and thrown under the oncoming traffic. I was fortunate to survive and am paralysed from the chest down.
Last summer I finally returned to biking. Easing myself back into the saddle I bought a GSXR1000K6, had hand controls and stabilisers fitted then went to Castle Combe to see what was what. The staff at CC have been really helpful and I now join in with the regular track sessions, although I have removed the stabilisers (get lauched and caught by the pit marshalls).
Have bought an SV650 which I'm getting adapted, race prepared and am aiming to get my ACU race licence for 2010. Looking to use the bike for racing in Minitwins as well as using it to get disabled bikers back on a bike. If you know someone who might find this info useful, please pass it on.
Can't wait for the track days to start up again in earnest. Spending the winter season racing for Great Britain in disabled skiing, so can't bike at the moment.
Cheers
Talan

Nice .
Someone came past me quite fast and smoothly at Snetterton some years ago with one arm on the tank - I felt I was pushing so seemed he was just taking the piss at my lack of ability!
Turns out he was a racer who had lost the use of one arm, so left was kept strapped to his chest. |

Inspirational indeed. I think it's great that you still "ride" a trike as well busapaul I hope to be riding until the day I die (although, preferably not on the day I die) ____________________ will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston? |

Sorry if this sounds stupid or naive but if somebody is paralysed from the chest down and their legs come off the pegs while riding how exactly would they get them back on? Or would they even feel them come off? Does paralysis include loss of feeling? I have really gruesome images in my head of somebodies feet scraping along the floor at speed and them not even noticing
Sorry again if that's a stupid question.
