Well as we all know MinhDinh went off to run the Marathon on Sunday, are we to believe the fact he hasn't come back to tell us all about it, is because he's still running?? ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

Hey Clanger.
I didn't come back on here because I didn't complete it and I am embarassed and annoyed.
I'll tell you the story.
I had diarhoe at 5.30 AM
I woke up at 6, showered etc... and rode to my bosses house.
He gave me some food but I only could eat 2 mouthful of potatoe. No appetite what so ever.
At 8.50 we left and got to mays hill at about 9.
I pissed a lot and drank the freebies.
We setted off and did 5k within 30 mins. I felt good but was drinking a lot of water and a lil hot
By about 5 miles I was feeling a lot of lactic acid and thristy. I kept drinking. He told em to stop taking in water and adjust to the heat. (It was getting pretty sunny by this time)
By 6 miles I was getting really hot complained my feet were burning. I ate my sugar bar because I felt blurry as if I was day dreaming but I wasn't talking.
I kept telling my boss to slow down to 8kph and apparently as soon as he did that I would sprint to 12kph straight away and he would tell me to slow down.
That's the last thing I remember.
I woke up in an ambulance and they had to calm me down. They gave me oxygen etc... my legs were cramping.
They told me I had collapsed after 8 miles and been unconscious for 30 mins. Apparently I vomitted and peop[le were trying to open my mouth incase I suffercated, but I ahd lock jaw.
I have pain on my chest so maybe someone tried ressucetation (sp)
Huge bruise on my arm.
I got in and they got me naked in A and E at St thomas Hospital (NHS)
Freezing towels were thrown on me because I was way too hot. I was very confused and didn;t know my age etc... I also had a drip done, blood testing and a nurse stuck sa thermometre up my arse. Deep aswell!
30 mins later I was a lot better and able to think straight. I think I was a stable 38.8 degrees celcius. Towels were getting changed til another 30 mins until I was a stable 37.5 degree celcius.
I was told I had very low blood sugar, was dehydrated and extremely hot.
They kept me in another 7 hours in CDU or somewhere because I was dizzy, headachey, had no appetite, had high levels of something when you exercise that was in my blood (that can harm my kidney) and was still a little confused. Also they basically said I look like shit.
On the way home, I got my sister and her boyfriend to buy me a doner kebab from Super Kebabs in Stoke Newington. Yummy.
My boss told me what he remembers that I have no memory of.
Apparently I was running on the same spot LOL. He told me to stop and wait and then carry on when I feel better. He left me while I must have tried getting rest, walk or whatever.
So, I'm sorry I didn't complete it while an 83 year old man did, and apparently a man carrying a fridge on his back aswell but that may have been my mate taking the piss.
I will apply to do it next year because I need to save face.
Thanks for asking though Clanger, you were ncie enough to PM me beforehand.
Congratulations to him on doing it though. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

Oh my god...what an epic story...you poor bugger ! Well you are obviously okay, the fact you ate a donor kebab and survived, says it all really. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

Well I can't remember any of the bad bits like runnign on the same spot lol so it isn't too bad.
Gotta say St Thomas is a damn good hospital and they checked me out every 30 secs in A and E.
every 5 mins in CDU (whatever that is)
Fingers cross you don't need to go hospital, but if you do, this is a top one!
Next to Big Ben so I guess it has to be nice.
I'm fine though. Had a fever all sunday night and monday morning, but I'm just sore, bruised and gutted.
Already explained this like 100 times to customers who have donated and come in to check up on us. Emabarassing lol.
Some memory is coming back though. I recall a tortoise overtaking me lol. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

Well done mate. Takes a fair bit of effort to try & run a marathon.
Sounds like nerves which led to poor dietary preperation got in the way of you finishing. Better luck for the next one. ____________________ Pictorgraphicalfantastical |

Aw ya brave lil bugger
I was about to make a teasing remark ... and I kept quiet in the thread before the race, I thought it wasn't fair to take away the shine off your excellent efforts.
... but it sounds like you got some bad heatstroke or something?
I'm sure you'll do it next time.
What a shame after all that training.
Don't stress out about it, and don't be embarrassed.
You haven't lost face (unless thats some weird oriental thing )
I think you did a lot more and a lot better than plenty of people (myself included) who are still total couch potatoes.
*extra hug just to cheer you up*
Bless ya.

Dont worry about it mate, happens to a runner at one point of another!!
I did the bath half marathon in march and then 2 weeks later me and a load of people from work ran 10km for comic relief 2 weeks after.
I ran two laps (4 miles) and had to stop as felt like death and I was the only non-finisher from work (got a lot of stick for it!).
I too work up that day feeling like death and didnt finish in the end.
Hope you get in next year! ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |
