Hi everyone. I am having some bother with my dtr. I got the bike a while ago but the engine had gone, i was on this site asking if a 05 barrel would fit a 92 model. (thanks for the help it does) I put it on and built the bike up. I got it started after a wee bit and now it starts fine even from cold. But the things is its seems to have no power high up the revs. 1st and 2nd gear are alot stronger then all the rest but they still dont feel right. you put the bike in 3rd and it doesnt pull and if you try using 4th 5th and 6 it does nothing really. Any ideas what the problem could be.
forgot to say the chain is at the shortest ajustment and even at that its solid before you sit on it. hope you guys can help. Thanks.

shouldnt be solid... should have an inch - inch 1/2 movement.

Whats your spark plug look like after a hard run? what colour is it, just pop it out and have a look?

Hi there just run out and took it out there the now. it looks black and theres a wee bit of oil on the threads.

i need to get an extra wee bit of chain then. would that be doing anything bad to it??

Probably giving the chain a hard time, which could give the engine and sprockets a hard time too..

The plug being like that could be running quite rich.. i'd wait for the 2 stroke geniuses to post, but i'd say mixture setting?

take the carb apart and just check the jet is still screwed in, had a mini moto that they jet fell out of, took ages to figure it out!

The chain, if its on the most slack setting i'd say either the sprockets arent standard or the chain isnt the correct length.
