Anyone owned or ridden one?

Looking at this on ebay, will be used as an everyday bike as i might be getting rid off my GSXR

I wouldn't of thought using a 10 year old compatsion enduro with 11k on the clock every day would be a smart move, might be worth looking at a xr600 if you want reliability

I dunno i seem to remember G mentioning they were fairly reliable bikes, not sure what model Husky it was though.

It is this model that G recomends.

One of the best handling bikes I've ever owned or ridden.

Mine did blow its head gasket about 3k miles after I got it, which led me to have immense problems. You have to split the cam chain to get the barrel off, and some fuckwit had rounded off the sprocket bolts.

On the plus side, 95mph with the gearing I had, and that would lift the front off the power in first and second.

Brakes were good, I was using dunlop sportmaxs and it seemed to work well. Every day use, personally I changed the oil every 1k miles and the filter 2k miles, which put it to 15 quid a month for me. The valves are very easy to check. All in all a good bike, although the tank on mine was pretty small, you can get a bigger one.

People that automatically suggest an xr or xt really annoy me . Sure they might be a fraction more reliable, but they are the same age or older, weigh a lot more, aren't as comfy and have less power.

It is indeed the one I keep going on about - my knowledge is more about the 2006+ ones, but I don't think there was actually a lot of changes about from going to FI.

The bike it's self is not a competition enduro bike - that's the TE510 in the Husky range, which is a totally different bike (not too far off the power, a little fewer cc and over 25kg less.)
It does look like this one has been used for some sort of competition at some point.

Should be fairly similar to my KTM, though obviously with the supermoto wheels in this case.

The XR600 is slightly lighter than the TE as it's one of the old air-cooled ones, but has a significantly less flexible engine - less power and I believe a closer ratio gear box. Suspect the XR also still has less-good fuel economy.

i had a 2000 husky SM610 until a few weeks ago. that 1's overpriced imo, offer him less and/or look around. they ALL need work just get 1 that doesnt need something too expensive. engine was very strong, no problems with it. everything else wasn't so strong.

i'd have another one but only a later less used/abused one, or if you're going for 10+ year old bikes go for an xr. really fun and surprisingly quick bike but like a cheap crack whore i got bored of it and it became expensive.

The TE610 is a good handling bike, on paper it is one of THE best bikes out there, weight, performance, gears, power etc in reality the reliability is highly suspect, take it this way if the TE610E is so good with G banging on about it regularly why doesn't he own one?.


One rider across the USA doth not a reliable bike make, same thing with the BMW X Challenge.

is that the 644 engined one? Handling on mine was immense, but I found it hideously underpowered. Quite a few little things you can do to unlock a few more horses.

I have a full set of jets laying around somewhere from when I was playing with the fuelling, if I can find them your welcome to them for the price of postage.

Replace the side stand bolts as soon as you can, they are made of cheese and will snap at a horrible time.

They're supposed to be a decent chunk heavier than the TE etc - probably not a big issue for normal road use however.
Also, the rotax engine has 'questionable' reliability records .

I've got some sheep skin pads around if you'd like a bit more comfort .
Though done 200 miles on similar bikes and it's do-able but not great fun.

Pyro when you mention the side stand does it just fall off or bend back so it wont hold the bike up, the latter happened to me today
