No (Full) Licence Or Bike, But Thinking About Touring...

Sounds crazy doesn't it....

Well basically... this is only an idea, and only that! I work in ASDA just now, but have just been accepted into the Police Force ( ) I had planned to just go from one job to the other, but an uncle of mine suggested that I go travelling before I start with the Police (looking around April time).

I've always wanted to go travelling (at some point in my life, and always dreamed of doing it on a bike) and this seems like it could be the perfect opportunity I've done my CBT and used to have a Hyosung Coment GT, but had to sell it for money reasons (I was running a car as well).

Now like I said, this is only an idea at the moment but it sounds like it could be the trip of a lifetime, the only downside being I would be by myself. I would love to take my Girlfriend but she wouldn't be able to take time off.

The plan was to get a loan from family ~4k, get my licence and get a cheap'ish (but reliable) bike, then use the rest for travelling. I haven't even thought about how long I would like to go for 2weeks or 6weeks.

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this?

Anyhow travelling solo is OK if you have the personality for it, me I almost universally travel by myself, however I'm willing to approach people everywhere as I'm like that. If you don't have this personality trait then I'd advise you find somebody to go with.

A nice 6 week route is probably my initial route, but through the Balkans instead of Italy (as Italy is horribly expensive) Turkey, Georgia but then south into Syria then cross over to Lebanon if you got the guts go to Eygpt (carnet !), then across to Libya and Tunis where you can get a ferry to Marseilles, Carnet will cost you loads though.

4k is a bit much, and you don't even need a full licence. I go pretty long distances on my 125, thousands of miles. If you got a more comfortable one (a cruiser type, or varadero) you could go all day on it at 60MPH and still see an awful lot of England.

If you wanted to see Europe etc, then a full licence would be important.
