Have the rules changed or something? I could've sworn that I read somewhere that you (Aussies) can ride anything up to 400cc on a provisional licence?
Failing that, I would say that a 250 crosser, such as a CRM250, could be quite suitable. I don't think that you'll be comfortable on any of the sports 250s. ____________________ TiN

I'm around 6 foot and had an RGV250 for a year, though i'm about 70kgs. The comfort wasn't too bad on a/b roads(single carriageways) because you had something to take your mind off the contorted positions of your legs, however on long motorway journeys it was pretty fucking bad to the point of being painful .
I don't think RGV's are learner legal in a few states of Australia anyway because of a power to weight ratio regulation. Apparently they imposed it after 25% odd of riders with an RGV as their first bike was seriously hurt or killed in their first year of riding !
Funnily enough though my arms were nowhere near as bad; my VFR400 gives me more wrist ache. |

You could also consider something like an rd250 (having just got the 350 version I would say that ). While the general performance won't be up there with newer sports bikes, the power shouldn't be too bad in comparison because it's a 2 stroke.
Mine's had some motorcross handlebars stuck on (easy conversion) which makes it pretty roomy and comfortable. |

And I think I am 6'2". Although I have'nt been measured for years. And kev, perhaps you slouch so much because you used to race 250s. ____________________ "Unlike public school you don't need to have your arse up and your head down to go a long way...." |

What are you doing out in Moscow?
Where are you staying there?
Rd250 isn't a daft option, an ex was 6'2" and rode one without any trouble. For a 250 they're not particularly slow, though do lack the looks of an RGV. (Call me a bike tart G... I can handle it!) ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

Wrapping up work... been here almost three years and despite in some ways loving the place I will be pretty happy to get back to Australian weather and service levels.. Shit, everything really, it will be lovely to have things actually WORK when they are supposed to...
I live in Dinamo just on the circle edge. it is such a lovely shoebox! |
