Cheers! It's been nice and relaxed with the missus and kids today. The in-laws popped in this afternoon which was good.

The maintenance one is really good, lots of colour pics and it's written in a way that makes you keep reading. A fair bit of background on how bits and bobs in the bike work too. It's in no way as detailed as the specific book for my bike but covers a lot more background stuff in what I think is an accessible way.

The workshop practice book is a lot more detailed and is laid out in their typical style, with columns and black+white photos/sketches. I found the writing style to be drier but it covers shed loads more like tool technique, fabrication and quite a bit of what I think is advanced work on the engine etc. I wanted both books just to give me more background as I got into working on my bike out of necessity (not much money) and personal interest - I'm not a formally trained mechanic by any means but I'd like to do the best I can and do it as 'properly' as possible.

Can anyone recommend a spanner set that's got those 'surface' or 'wall' drive ring spanners that avoid rounding off heads? I know 12-point ones can be prone to doing that. I have £60 to play with and I'd preferably like as many spanners as possible of all shapes/sizes as some places can be a pain to access. I think the biggest size I'd need would be 27mm.
