Done less than 50 miles on the bugger from new and having a couple of problems. Started Friday when no matter how hard i tried or how many times i pulled the clutch lever it would not go from secound to first. It just kept sticking in Neutral.

Secound problem is the battery. Used the bike Thursday when it was delivered, and Friday to commute. Left it sitting outside under a cover from Friday night to Sunday morning. It wouldn't start this morning. Used the choke etc, just couldn't get it to fire up. I gave it a jump start and it was off. Worked great just going around the block on it hut had the not going into first gear problem again, stalled it, then it wouldn't start again.

I haven't dropped the bike or bashed it in any way. I also haven't taken it over 2 thirds throttle as it says in the manual (not meant to take it over 2 thirds until you've done 100 mile).

So before i go back to the dealers and give them a blasting, is there something i might have done that's caused either problem? Is the gearing thing something that just happens on motorbikes? Is there any way i could have fried the battery while just riding it?

if you only had it a couple of days take it to the dealer, doubtful it anything you have done. anything new could have niggles and or problems,

i bought a new cagiva w8 in 2000 had it a month or so and the gearbox ripped itself apart, i was still running in and had it service at the dealers it just happens sometimes.....

At least it happened now under warranty, unless you filled your gearbox with sand then it is highly unlikely to be your fault.

That is one of the arguments for caning it during the running in process, makes problems surface earlier whilst still under warranty. Plenty of arguments both ways though tbh.

Cool, gonna see if the dealers can pick it up and deal with it. Dont fancy doing a 12 mile ride knowing if it stalls it wont be starting again. Thanks guys!

Probably a bit of swarf in the gearbox. Fairly common problem with new bikes.
