Had the day off work today and as the weather looked reasonable I thought I would go for a quick round of golf. After warming up on the driving range, the sun came out and there wasn't a cloud in sight. Sod the golf, i'm off out on the bike!!

So off I went home, took the bike cover off and disconnected the Oxford optimiser. I removed the security devices and wheeled th bike out of the garage onto the drive to give it a check over. With everything ok and the tyres inflated slightly I changed into my leathers.

Left my village and stopped for fuel just over the trent bridge i Gainsborough. After getting just 8 litres of fuel for a tenner I fired up the bike and carried on my journey winding through various villages towards Willingham Woods. Arriving at the woods I was cold but not too uncomfortable. There was two olds guys there both on Triumph Tigers and whilst I was ordering my tea, a guy pulled up on a beautiful red and white GSX-R. Nice bike but the rider didn't seem keen on making conversation when I tried.

After downing my tea, I jumped back on the bike and headed back towards home. By now the blue skies were covered with grey clouds and i was notably cooler but at least it wan't raining. The ride back was virtually traffic free and uneventful apart from a lunatic on a R1 (I think) who came flying round a bend on full lean angle careering towards the white line. Luckily for me and him he didn't hit a damp patch/gravel/diesel. Why do people have to ride like this on the road and especially around blind bends like this. If your reading this mate, nice riding but keep it to the track if you want to improve your chances of survival.

After arriving home I was buzzing, absolutely loved the ride, virtually no traffic and just loved being back on the bike again after not riding it since probably October last year! Can't wait until I go touring to Scotland for a few days later this year.

Bring on the warmer weather!!

Sounds fantastic! I'm starting my bike training on Wednesday, it's been about 1 year since I've ridden my Hyosung Comet GT125 I used to have, I cannot wait to start riding again! A little anxious though, with it being a 500 this time Smile

It's definitely getting much warmer. I can't wait to be able to go on 100mile stints again without getting cold!

G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

I managed to do about 200 miles on Saturday through Kent and Essex, but it wasn't the first ride of the year for me. Still enjoyed it though, never been round that way before.

Had a nice ride today! Was about 10 degrees down here in Portsmouth so went up around Portdown Hill and the A32 before coming home. About 40 miles.
