got myself a front paddock stand today......the 2 prong type...

trying to lift my fz6n but it feels pretty dodgy sitting on these pins ....like it can easy move forward and fall off.......one at rear and one on bottom but no front security...

id have thought they would have 3 thongs to really secure the front end.....

just dont trust it....maybe im being a big girl.....

where can i get the adapters that have a pin and locate in the hole under the fork as these seem far more secure....

cant see them anywhere so was thinking of fabricating my own....can you buy them

Just make sure it's perfectly square and they're adjusted so the plate is flush to the side of the fork bottom. I thought it looked very dodgy when I first put mine on it but it's pretty secure as the weight of the bike is well behind the fork bottoms, not over or in front of them.

It'll be fine as long as you're also using a rear paddock stand.

This man speaks sense, only use the front stand along with a rear one.

no problem once you have rear and front...even if the front pops out the bike won't fall

I'v seen the the single point one damage fairings if they're not set up right..

Just got round to using my front one for the first time since xmas today. Feels very cheap and nasty compared to the rear oxford one but does the job and cant grumble too much for £20.

got the bike up today......wheels currently off why new tyres are being fitted as i type.....

i got the cheapo buster paddock set....and the rear one is very good quality but having a look today the front one is a bit poor and was slightly twisted....

the prongs were still riding up the back of the fork leg so just got a mallet and give them a knock to keep them under the fork leg....

seems solid now it up......cheers all Wink

You're doing it right, mr fisty is doing it wrong.

The weight of the bike is forwards from the stand, therefore the supporting legs at the bottom of the stand should be facing forwards.

The way the stand is angled, means the weight of the bike is behind where the stand is on the floor. It's the same way the bike would be supported if it was a fitted centre stand.

Also, Darth - You have the supporting parts of your front paddock stand upside down. They should be the same way round as in mr_fisty's pic.

And that front stand does look rather weedy compared to the beefy Oxford one Shocked

im glad some started a thread on stands as im needing a new one front and back for my r6 but i have no idea whats a good make or what styles are best. i had a motrax one ages ago but it had flat supports for the rear swing arm and it was crap to be able to lift the bike while keeping the supports inline. any ideas what i should look for Thumbs Up

I like my rear oxford one. As i said it feels a lot meatier than the cheapy i got from ghost bikes on ebay. It came (oxford) with the flat support brackets like you are talking about but i changed it over to the hook type fittings ( another £15) and got some bobbins which is much more the job

I know i put the abba stand on the wrong way but there is a reason for it.
The front stand i never realised i was using it wrong but it does beg the question. How are you meant to remove the front axel with the metal plate in the way?

Seem to be at slight cross purposes with mixing up front stands and abba stands. Smile

Abba stands: Polarbear is doing it right, mr fisty is doing it wrong.

Basically, do not put your bikes on an abba stand the same way as shown in the picture of that yellow TL because it is wrong.

I've just checked on the abba stand website and they have nice pictures showing how to correctly use an abba stand:
