Well, as in the title...

They can't be hard to make? Where do they fit... are there places for them to fit already on the bike?

Never bothered with them before, just curious.

Don't be silly, I give those to poor children for toys!

But make them out of metal tubing?

Metal might transfer the force of a crash a bit more than the nylon ones you can buy. I might be wrong but I'd rather have bits of plastic cushioning the impact first a little before the impact was transferred directly to the frame an/or engine.

Skateboard wheels?

Thats all the most of the crash bobbons for axles seem to be. Then with a threaded bar and 2 nylock nuts.

I've found that these tend to 'grip' more (not surprising really seeing as thats what they are designed for) than nylon ones that tend to slide.
