Morning,

On my car there's a small part of the bodywork that has no lacquer as you can see were it's pealed too. I plan on adding lacquer to this area but only have a touch up brush so understand the finish won't be smooth. So my question is, what grade paper will i need to sand the new lacquer to a smooth finish?

Does it scratch? Can the scratches of a fine grade be buffed out? And how many layers of lacquer would you suggest?

Cheers. Thumbs Up

1200 or higher grade wet and dry is what I use to flat back paint. I would go for two coats of lacquer than a very careful rub back with 1200 or higher, used very wet.
Read the can for lacquer, the halfords stuff only recommends two coats.
I think there are special things available to rub back lacquer.

Thanks for that. Will get some 1200 then. I lacquered the patch of bodywork today with a touch up stick & looks better but i'll wait til i get the sand paper so i can rub down before the second coat.

Cheers. Thumbs Up
