Hi - new here and looking for some pointers to a wee problem I am dealing with Mr. Green

I have a few track days lined up this year and got to thinking that I need a change of bike. I have had my 2004 ZX-10R since new and whilst it has been fun I fancy a change to a big twin again ... I have been looking around and I have shortlisted a few bikes that are available locally and are in mint condition. Gonna ride them but not on track so looking for feedback on em from that perspective mainly but road based comments would be useful too ... with their sticker price they are:

2006 Aprillia RSV R Factory - £5400
2008 KTM RC8 (200 miles!!) - £8970
2009 Ducati 1198 S with som extras- £12,500

I threw the Duc in as a benchmark for my benefit (hope it aint that good I 'll really want it!!) so wondering which of the Aprillia & KTM to go for ????

Why do you think you need a change of bike out of interest?
Looking for something a bit slower?

Out of those choices, I'd go for the RSV - it's got a good reputation on track and it doesn't seem worth spending more money.

The duck seems like a total waste of money, but then I've never been a fan; the only new bike that to my mind slightly justifies the outlay is the new beemer, as it does seem to offer more than the competition.

RSV very time.

The difference would buy a fair bit of gas, and summer's on it's way! Cool

Not slower, but more confidence inspiring! However that may be delivered Mr. Green

Above 160mph the 10R gets a bit of a weave on and I still can't get used to it ... nobody can find anything wrong and is probably related to aerodynamics up to summat funny! Not fun when trying to max it out heading to the Adelaide hairpin at Magney with that last kink to pass ..

The RSV seems a more sensible choice to me, I may even go faster on it if it feels right - who knows!

Have you got a decent steering damper on there? My 675 track/race bike gets a serious weave on on the straights without a steering damper turned up a bit.

I have fitted a Matris damper ... I usually have it on 5 or 6 clicks of 12 for track use .. and off for road riding. Don't tell me that's the problem! Surprised

It's like a 1 to 1.5 second period weave ... but it is consistant above that speed ...

the duke imo is unjustifiably expensive, you could by 3 of your current bikes for the same price,

the 03-04 model ninja is know for being a handful so if you dont have a damper, i applaud you for still being alive Thumbs Up ,

iv seen the rc8 from as little as £7000+ with very low miles (2000ish)
id personally love to own one, although the engines not as strong as the dukes.

you get a lot of bling for your coin with the rsv r so that wouldn't be a bad buy either, they dont produce them any more so, in some years to come they could became more desirable
