 |
|
Just had a monster barny with the missus .... all over a pathetic thing such as the remote control.
I was watching tv in bed.... i then get up to lock back door ... and she sneaks in and changed channel.
Pretty sharpish this descended into a full blown argument.
Anyway, I reacted in exactly the same way I always do when we argue.
I spent some money on the spot .. then watched her face as I told her
I am now the proud daddy of this baby boy:

oh! and the story about the barny with the wife.
100 % true.
Its exactly the same way I bought the R6 5 years ago.
Works a treat ... we wont have another big argument (or more to the point, she wont mess with me again) for years
I highly recommend this approach ____________________ There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffa tape.

Nice bike old bean
Hours on the display mean nothing - it's probably been disconnected for most of its life and in reality much higher.
I'll give you £20 and a packet of caramel wafers to take it off your hands. |

Is that what the manual states ?
I know ktm's are more 'out of the box - ready to race' bikes, but i didn't think maintainance would be that frequent.
In this case i'm proud to own a WR |
Manual states oil change every 10 hours on a RFS engine and valves 15 from memory, l like to keep on the safe side.
mines done just over 100 hours and 2,000 miles, they will last to 10,000-15,000 miles if well look after though some that are raced have gone pop at 100 hours from what l,ve read on other forums. ____________________ Past:NRG50,AF1125(x2),NSR125RR,ZZR250,CX500,VFR400,KR1S,ZZR600(x2),CB400N,YZF1000(x2),KH125,Z200,FX400R,CBR954RR(x2)GPZ500S,GT550,VFR750F(x2),RD350N,XR650R,CBR600F,CB250,KDX250,YZF750R,CRM250,400EXC,KLR650,TTR600RE,DR350S,R100GSPD,RGV250,VMAX1200,DL650,KZ750 Present:G650XC,C12,CRF450X,1190ADV |

Its an 07 bike with 230 hours on it
He says it has been serviced reguarly, but has no evidence of the work, as the bike has spent most of its life in Spain.
Whats the BCF opinion ? should i walk or chance it ?
If it were a Yamaha (like my trusty WR) then no problem... but this is a fickle KTM. ____________________ There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffa tape.

Hmmmm tricky one. Those Spanish are a bit lazy
Have you ridden it or heard it run?
I say walk away and redeem yourself with a manly stroker. For that money you could get a nice 300EXC and stop being ghey. |

£2800 is not an insignifcant amount for a bike that has no service history and had its plastics replaced (£160)
210 hours on average is +5000 miles.
This advert shows a similar bike with 150 hours and service history.https://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1546680.htm
Think i'd be walking. Unless i was with someone who knew 100% (as dammit) it was a gud 'un. Or i was good at mechanicing.
Thats my 2p.
Maybe get on a KTM forum and do some homework.

Surely £2800 for an 07 bike is about as good as you can get (before dropping into the complete nail for the age price range)?
Your a big boy, you know what to look for, C&S, tyres, seals, bearings etc etc. From this you should get a good idea if he would have been bothered to keep on top of basic/fundamental things like oil changes!!
Hours/millage aren't necessarily a good indicator of 'condition' ... and it is condition you are after.
I say go for it
But in all seriousness, it is still a hoofing great 400cc 4-stroke, what are you gaining over the WR? I thought the idea was a total change, not just modernisation??? ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

I,ve ridden both and can say the KTM is a lot lighter and the power delivery is awsome massive low end grunt. ____________________ Past:NRG50,AF1125(x2),NSR125RR,ZZR250,CX500,VFR400,KR1S,ZZR600(x2),CB400N,YZF1000(x2),KH125,Z200,FX400R,CBR954RR(x2)GPZ500S,GT550,VFR750F(x2),RD350N,XR650R,CBR600F,CB250,KDX250,YZF750R,CRM250,400EXC,KLR650,TTR600RE,DR350S,R100GSPD,RGV250,VMAX1200,DL650,KZ750 Present:G650XC,C12,CRF450X,1190ADV |
