My key has decided that it would be extremely funny to break in the lock on my petrol tank today!
unfortunately there is still a piece of it inside the lock which would be impossible to reach with a pair of pliers or anything like that, does anybody have any idea's as to how I can get this out without paying a lock smith to do it for me? |

Hi
How the hell did you do that?
I think the dust cover you mean is just a tiny plastic cover actually in the lock?
I would use a pair of tweezers to try and get the remains of the key out. You should be able to hold the cover out of the way.
Can you open of lock the cap? If so it may be easier to take the lock out of the cap. Think this is easy (never done it to an RS). On the underside of the cap there is a 1.5mm thick steel bar which holds the lock in place. Push this through and then the lock should just come out.
All the best

spray a load of wd40 into the lock and leave to soak in, spray again then try and get it out with one of them magnet pick up tools... it might be wedged in there though!
If so then try the tweezers method already mentioned.
If that dont work then you'll have to drill NEXT to the actual key in the lock until you can slide the key upwards.. then use your spare key to open the filler cap, take the whole cap off and replace it!
Only things i can really think of, just keep it lubed with WD40 etc. ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |
