Would it work to spray carb cleaner into the carbs directly (air filter out) - ??

Is there any way of cleaning the carbs without having to remove them?

Thanks.

I've not had a lot of success spraying carb cleaner directly through the horns of a carburettor in terms of how much improvement it makes.

I personally think Redex is a waste of time, its well marketed with a cool name but its usefulness is highly over rated.

Best way is to remove the carbs, and remove the jets for proper cleaning, you can then also visually inspect the results.

Some carbs are easier to remove than others, despite how complicated it may look.

Whats the problem with the bike?

REDEX did f**k all for my carb. I don't quite know the usefulness of it. I assume it's to get rid of the very small amount of build up but it did nothing for mine. Had to clean the jets myself following haynes with instructions that only a mechanic could follow.

THe 'cleaning' that needs to be done in a carb is the bowl, jets, emulsion tube etc. Spraying carb cleaner into the throat will not affect any of these.

Fill your tank and add a Redex "One Shot", take the bike out for a good run.

Others have said they don't really rate it but for £1.99 it's worth a shot.

As has been said though, stripping the carbs and cleaning out the jets etc is probably the best soloution to any fuel/performance issues.

Don't forget to replace the air filter/clean it if after market, that may help a lot.

you MAY be able to get the float bowl off with the carb(s) in situ, depends on the bike. Easy on a Boxer BMW, also possible i guess on some downdraught engines.

Id imagine most sidedraught motors would be tricky to impossible. Most sidedraught fours like bandits etc it couldnt really be done.
