Leaky Carb (NSR 125)

Hi

My carb leaks, not gushes but drips. I took the bike off the road along time a go about 5years due to engine death. The bikes running again now but the carb leakes. Ive cleaned it and all looks to be well and good the carb is a PHbH28 fs of a 1989 model. Any ideas???

Have you checked the float is set to the correct height, and the gasket between the bowl and body is in good condition?

The gaskets fine, Im thinking its got to be something to do with the float - the leak is through the overflow. To be honest thats as much knowledge as i dare use! I dont want to make the issue even worse then have to end up buying a new one. when im sure it is something as simple as the float adjustment. some research i think is in order.

Check your manual to see what height it should be at and measure it, and while you're there make sure the float bowls are leaking.. or rather letting fuel in. That and clean your float valve - the big needle bit that sits on the other end of the float bowls and stops too much fuel entering the carb.

It's most likely to be one of those two, I'd say.

carb overflood is caused by float puncture , sticking fuel valve or float chamber wrong height
