hi...tried to remove the flywheel on my Honda h100...but the thread was too badly damaged to get the tool in far enough to do anything.

any suggestions of how to get it off? need to set the points. cant do it through the hole in the flywheel as the bolthead that holds the points on is rounded.
can upload pictures if necessary, read this on a similar thread:

Bit of a bodge way of doing it, but put a nut onto the crank (so it protects the thread) then whack it with a hammer/brick/heavy object.

May require WD40 and a crowbar.

Try not to damage anything

I tried this....without too much brute force or wd40 being applied. will try it again...with a little more enthusiasm. any other tips appreciated.

nearest bike garage is 10mile away...i'd rather sort it at home, then fanny bout in a garage carpark. trying to do it on the cheap

The ideal way would be to use an external puller.

I can tell you for definate that a 3-leg puller wont fit between the flywheel and the housing though.

Given it's something you'll need to do with a reasonable degree of regularity, it may be worth drilling and tapping the outside face of the flywheel in two or three places so you can attach a bolt-on type flywheel puller.

I've heard of people getting them off by tapping round and round the edge of the flywheel with a mallet but down this road lies a buckled flywheel and fucked main bearings.

Probably wont work but its still quite cold of an evening...

Freed a few things by spraying wd40 or similar, then heat gun (avoiding plastic bits/wires) then more wd40/heat...etc
