If its sat with fuel in the carbs (assuming its a carbed bike) redex will do nothing. The varnish will need proper cleaning (and therefore stripping of the carburettors).

If they were drained when it was stood, then you shouldnt need anything other than fresh fuel to get it going.

silkolene FST (fuel system treatment)

stick a 2% mix in with a tank of fuel, then 1% the tank after, but needs to be in a tank of fuel that you use slowly, it won't work if you go and use the tankful in one day it needs to lie in the system for a good week

used it on my 350 ypvs and afterwards the thing would just sit there ticking over quite happily instead of needing constant throttle blipping just to keep it running

most of the additives ate 99% paraffin, which does help shift water out of nooks and crannies.

If you want to stick something in the tank, chuck half a cup of paraffin in the tank.

ok thanks for the advice guys.. i have not long bought the bike, she runs ok but is a bit random on idle and at low rpms (3k ish). i have balanced the carbs (see other thread) and its better but i think there may be a bit of something in the idle jets on the one carb. think i'll try the redex or silkolene stuff and see how it goes for a bit as i dont think its going to hurt
whats the chances of there being a filter on the fuel pipe or the fuel switch??
