Hello.

MY CG battery started dieing and lights getting dimmer. then stopped working and the fuse 10amp next to the battery blew.

For last few days been riding round with no power, with the LED Brake light the CG running with no battery the Generator could power the brakes lights only, but struggles with indicators.

Anyway i have charged and fitted a brand new 10amp fuse and new battery, But nothing works.

Check the CG with volt meter, its supplying 14-15 volts to the battery, then checked the battery and its at 13.5vs. so the power is there but he bike is not getting it.

Any ideas ? at the mo for last week i have had to use indicators with bike revving hard to get them to flash or work. or use hand signals, and cant go out when dark Sad

Anything?

Check all the block connectors on the wiring loom are clean of corrosion and clean any earthing points you can find. Worth a try

will try it, my plan was tomorrow after going to cinema to see the new film predators, would come home strip the loom out and give good clean.

If its not that , what else could make the Cg power-less ?

My mate had a similar problem with his CG, pish lights, indy's not flashing, it was a bad connection on the positive wire from the battery, the bullet connector. Just gave it a squish to make it tight again and all was good.
Might be worth checking.
HTH.

I cant go out at night because the lights just flicker and the indicators are AWOL.

Bike off, CG Battery reads 13.30v
Bike ruining, CG battery reads 14.60v

CG Wires from loom plugged into volt meter rather then Battery, Idle speed no revs : 8.56v

tested the side light ( 1 side light bulb 5w ) reading at idle is : 0.74v revved Reads: 1.60v How i did it ( so you know if i did it correctly ) 2 wires on the side light bulb + an - connected + to the + on the volt meter and - to the - on the volt meter.

If i could find the loom brake i could solve it. but could be something els or is that the be the only thing left ? is the loom

So your battery is fully charged, no problems there

Your alternator and rectifier look to be working OK

Which should read 12V and something above that. This means that you've most likely a high resistance (read Crap/Corroded) connection somewhere in the lighting circuit that's dropping most of the voltage. Could be a connector/wire, wire/wire, earthing point/wire.

Like the man said above check the connections where possible. Clean em, crimp em, etc. A wiring diagram might help you more easily trace what wire does what, than trying to trace back.

Does the horn work?

Attach a wire to the negative side of the battery, connect it to any bare metal part of the frame, anything?

Connect the same negative wire to the negative side of the headlight, anything?

Horn works perfectly, nice loud, even when bike not running, and fuse is fine. If stops raining ill recheck all connectors again. i have wiring diagram.

Could be a broken wire causing a poor connection?
