Nothing fancy just a simple poll,

I'm voting Lib Dem because the Lib Dem candidate is the best of a bad bunch in my area.

I feel it is more important to vote for the candidate rather than the party.

Not voting as I have plans to spend the latter half of 2010 and most of 2011-2013 overseas, I therefore think that it is unfair that I make decisions that will affect the people who live here yet do not affect me.

Aren't Not Voting and Abstaining the same thing, unless you can't vote for some reason (under 18 etc)?

I don't see any kind of poll there, I'm not after opinions but statistics.

This bring me to my second point, is anyone actually voting for someone they like? Or is everyone voting for the person they are voting for because they want to stop another mob getting in.

I need to find a politician I can get behind, someone I actually want to vote for.

I'd prefer to vote UKIP but after the mess Labour have made of this country over the last 13 years getting them out is more important to me.

Hi

Another one voting Tory to get labour out. Think we need a hell of a lot to sort the country out and while neither are prepared to say they will do this (and indeed if they did they wouldn't have a hope of winning, it would be like asking people to vote for their favourite dentist), labour have proven that they won't do what is necessary.

A few no doubt will, and quite a few will vote one way because "my father did and if it was good enough for him it is good enough for me".

Not much chance of that ever happening when there are only a few parties who stand any chance of getting more than a nominal number of votes.

All the best

It did the the states I feel, Obama was a brilliant canidate IMO, and if I where a Yank I would have been pleased to vote for him, whereas here it's vote for the one who is the least bad. Or vote for the people who are the biggest competition to the ones I least like even if they aren't the ones I really want to vote for (Not a dig Panrider, I can see where you are coming from)

The problem is we NEED a benigh dictatorship to sort this out for maybe 10 years or something, in that dictatorships can get things done, the problem is that it is really bad if you are the one who gets stepped on because of this.

I'm voting Tory to get Labour out (hopefully).

Plus I like how the Tory candidate for my area has voted in the past on most issues.

I won't be voting because I can't be bothered to register.

They all lie anyway. They pretend to be all nice before an election and then stab you in the back when they get elected.

If I was voting I would have voted Tory.

To an extent true, but I don't trust any politician to be a benign dictator.

All the best

Lib Dem for me, because I think their policies mostly align with my views, and they have Vince Cable who I think is the best politician to sort the economy. Certainly the best possible chancellor.

My current local MP is Labour, but other than that I think he's really good. Perhaps I'll write to him asking him to defect...

Then IMO you should vote for Labour, who your local candidate is is very important, and you votes will have far more of an impact.

I hope the tories do get in I think I wish to see what the differences will be having only been able to remember a labour government vaguely rmemeber Major but was too young to really know what was going on.

They have to. If they were honest (vote for me as I will increase taxes and reduce services) then nobody would vote for them. Trouble is that we stand a good chance of getting some voted in again who just spend money we don't have and put us into more trouble (making the medicine even worse when we eventually have to swallow it).

All the best

I'm sorry but were you being sarcastic? In that candidates don't matter at all.

Labour mostly have been pavalovian dogs, their pager goes off and they are instructed to vote one way or another, they go into the voting lobby vote as instructed and then go home.

There is a whole TV channel devoted to this the parliment channel you see debates like the ID card debate where the chamber was mostly empty yet most of the Labour MPs voted for it.

So your ascertion that candidates matter is groundless.
