On the TDM I have Heated grips, they are oxford and they are the ones with the digital box thing that gives you 4 settings

Looks like this

Anyway, when you turn them on it stays on for about 2 seconds then turns off, it does this every time any ideas?

Hi

When you turn them on, is the engine running and how long has it been running? Have some similar HG ones on Charlottes Bandit and they will turn themselves off if the battery power isn't sufficient, and that includes within a few minutes of firing up the engine.

All the best

Keith

It was after engine had been on maybe 10 minutes, The battery is strange I do think there may be something up with it.

During the winter, it would struggle to start the bike, sort of Laughing

As soon as you turn the ignition and thumb the starter it would turn a couple of times then die and the ECU will reset but after that it will be fine and turn over happily for ages. If you time it right you can hit the starert let it turn over once, then off and then it will turn over fine. It is as if it needs to wake up for a few seconds before it will work properly.

The thing is I have been riding it day in day out through winter with this problem and with the grips on the majority of the time. I haven't used the grips for about 3 months and the battery problem has disappeared with the warm weather.

The battery is only a year old but I think it may be the issue, I'll see if putting it on charge will sort it.

May be a poor connection between the battery and main power relay.
Intermittent power may be due to the shock/vibration when you try to start making the connection appear better-er.

Or it's the main power relay its self.
