Im having troubles starting my zxr 750. Each day it has to be bump started, however, after that it will start ok on the button. Once its running the idle is a little slow too.
Have checked battery and plugs and are both good.
Has anyone got any ideas- need it back on the road ASAP

I assume it'd be something to do with the carbs then, doesn't sound like the engine is getting enough fuel when cold?

I may be wrong!

Maybe this would be better off in the workshop section rather than here Thumbs Up

Anyway, to me sounds like your battery may not be in the best of health, even though you said it was fine. The reason I say this is because it sounds like the battery is discharging a little overnight (do you have an alarm or anything?) meaning it doesn't have enough power to spin the starter motor and supply the coils at the same time. When you bump start it all of the available power goes to the coils and it fires up, then after you ride it around for a bit the battery gets topped up, so then can run the starter motor and the coils Thumbs Up

my old h2 used to have to have a battery in tip top condition to spin it up to start, i have a feeling that the alternator belt might be slipping slighty and not charging the battery quite enough, this is a issue i used to have.

i assume that once its running it runs ok, not bogging down or anything? otherwise it could be a carb issue, as i had one of the carbs stick open this caused some starting issues and general running problems

Why do you bump it? i.e. what are the symptoms of it not starting off the button?
