Hey basically i was riding one day and my sport air filter fell off (probably didn’t fit it properly)

The next they i went somewhere without the air filter as i was lazy to put it back on…
It was raining really badly.

Suddenly i noticed my bike getting sluggish and acting up, slowly losing power, i though it was the petrol, so i toped up more but it wasn’t,

I pulled out the petrol station and suddenly i heard a “BANG” i lost all power, it was working but i lost all power, no acceleration, and smoke was coming out off –
https://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/218333/images/Piaggio_zip.gif ( that little black circle thing near the exhaust )

So i was going home really slowly with no acceleration then after a little while it just shut down on me whilst it was getting slower and slower.

Now when i try to turn it back on i have to electric start it a couple of times, and keep revving very fast until it comes on,

When i full rev it it just shuts down completely, there is no power at all with the bike at the moment,

If anyone can help i would be grateful!.

Are you saying you ran the engine with NO air filter? If so, it would have sucked in all manner of crap from the air which would almost certainly have caused nasty damage indeed... That and having no air filter means you're probably running lean (too much air not enough fuel).

Check if there is water in the oil and drain the float bowl.

Same as above. I'd also clean (or preferably replace) the spark plug.

Yer I'd definately start with the small simple jobs first. I'd consider taking the carb off an cleaning the whole thing too.

No the wheel does spin! and it even start sometimes! but the acceleration has completely gone and when you go full throttle or even 3/4 it just shuts off....

has it been de-restricted? I had the front variatior nut from the cvt gear system come loose on mind and that was giving no power as the pulley was loose!

Also make sure the cdi has been covered with silicone or similar to close the cut. These are cut open for de-restricting purposes and most people don't bother filling hole after cutting.

Bit off topic but thats what I have had
