I've been once, for my partners 21st too actually, She's been 4 times now.

We just flew into Schiphol airport, hopped onto the train (The train station is in the airport) about 25 mins and you're in the centre of Amsterdam. (The ferry seems a lot of hastle when its just a short stint on a plane)

We took a walk around and haggled in a few places for a room, Got a room on top floor of some hostel type place for 120 euro for 3 nights.
You're probably going to be in/around the red light area the most as it's the busiest part of Amsterdam I would say.

Be careful if you're buying drugs on the street, 90% of the people will try to sell you crap, If you talk to the junkies/dealers and don't buy their gear they usually follow you for a while which is worrying at first, not quite sure why they do that.

There are undercover police everywhere but they seem to be very lenient, One of the dealers was trying to charge me over the odds and was shouting at me right beside the police, I walked straight towards them and he didn't follow.
Most of the stuff you get on the streets isn't even coke or what you think you're getting, The best people I bought from seemed to be the jet black men, possibly Nigerian mostly wearing denim.

So anyway hope that helps at least a little, and if you're gonna bang any slags just be careful with your phone/wallet as my mate walked out and noticed he didn't lift them and they denied ever seeing his stuff.

As it happens im going on Friday for a long weekend.

The justification is my girlfriends 22nd.

I have used three methods in the past, Eurolines Coach can be about 38 pound return from london to the outskirts of amsterdam, but its 12 hours each way and only if you really are trying to be cheap.

I have ridden over numerous times, i reccommend the Eurotunnel if you can manage getting through without it breaking down, however the ferries are just as perilous with strikes and whatnot.

This time i will be flying out to Schipol, About 100 quid return, worth it as its a very short flight as opposed to 4-6 hours on the bike each way (and the associated wear and tear/petrol costs).

Reading Jamies post there it seems a bit retarded to go to amsterdam and try and buy coke from a street dealer, But then thats not really my thing. I go for the smokeage, Two coffeeshops in particular i reccomend. De Dampkring and Grey Area.

Dunno what else to say Were paying abut 110 euros for three nights in a supposedly 3 star hotel, seems cheap to me so i will be expecting a bedsit.

Im looking forward, should be good.

Smile

Don't try to buy drugs on the street at all. Because if you do, at best, you'll get sold rubbish or worst, you'll be robbed. As you walk past them on the street and they say you "charlie, speed, ecstasy" then just keep walking. If you say "no" then they're a lot more likely to start following you. It's quite simple in that you completely ignore the street dealers. Also, if you go when it's raining then you don't get hassled by street dealers as it appears that the crackhead has yet to invent the umbrella. Very Happy

If you want class A's then don't go to Amsterdam. Rolling Eyes

Best way to get the dealers to fuck off is to say 'Net.' with a russian accent. None of them speak russian Laughing

I'd seriously consider getting the plane rather than ferry. It's very little hassle to get the train into the dam. Accommodation is a bit expensive, but its a capital city so it should be expected.

Drinking is expensive too, but as you can't drink where you can smoke thats never been a problem Laughing

Smoke is really cheap (?8 gram) if your not bothered about buying the latest strain (?40 gram).

Doubt i'd be doing any drugs but if happen to come across some smoke i will give it a go, when in rome and what not.
But just want to go to see what its like, a friend went with all her girly mates an she didnt smoke just drank and did shrooms once lol she said it was a top laugh an well worth it.

Id like to stay somewhere nice tbh, not a fan of cheap shitty beds and what not but if i have to i'll crash anywhere with a roof and no whores either, too many horror stories lol.

more than likely i'll be going with my stepdad as my mates will all be skint and what not. Still dont know where to stay but i think flying will be best.

Flying seem's expensive and it's not special, mind there's what, 4 months to save up?

What about hiring an MPV/mini bus or something and take it in turns driving?(except you can't drive, can your stepdad?)

Riding? (this might not be so fun, and tiring)

Get ur passport checked asap, I heard the time frame for getting one's not short and it costs 90quid(plus an interview to get it)! but then i'd need one someday regardless. Mad

Mate of mine has been several times, loves the place. I, however, don't smoke weed like he does, so when he has asked me to accompany him I have declined since that is all he does when he is there. I ain't forking out several hundred quid to stay in some city drinking very expensive carling whilst watching someone smoke weed for days on end. The Shrooms do appeal to me, but again, I can get these at home for much less than it would cost for a trip the le dam.

If you are tempted by a smoke i would highly recommend Barney's breakfast bar. It's right out of centraal station and 500m away. Champange breakfast and a spliff has to be done! Good selection of weed there too.

The shrooms are good. But if your unsure about it go for the thai or mexican shrooms. If your properly up for it get a box of hawaiians in you. It's visually intense but doesn't make you go crazy Razz

Sounds about right. Expect the flights to cost double that if you book them last minute though. Hostel is about ?30 a night, hotel ?55ish.

68 pound return is very cheap, that must be from some dirtstrip aerodrome Razz

Usually about 50 quid each way from Heathrow, or 40 quid each way from Luton. Mind you i never book more than a month ahead, usually a spur of the moment decision to go.

Cant wait till friday Mr. Green

Yea that sounds fairly cheap. In hostels you may have to share which is why it is cheaper. The hostel we were in last time had bunk beds in the rooms that slept 6+.

Me and GF got our own room but with 2 single beds and the room was an awkard L shape so we couldnt put the beds together.

When you planning on going?

Yea the only reason we were in a hostel the 2nd time was as it was her uni and was like ?140 for travel and accom.

The 1st time we booked flights and hotel via expedia (or simular site) and when we got to the hotel I asked if it was alright to smoke in the room and the guy turned to me and said,
"this is amsterdam, of course you can!".

The 1st time was in summer too, much nicer as January the second time was VERY cold!!!

Also, rent a bicycle for a day for a coffee shop crawl, was one of the best days ever!!

Many, probably about 6 in the last two years, three times riding over, twice on the plane and once on the coach.

And Yes, I have had success in every method of repatriation i have tried. Fingers Crossed again Wink

Good to know, planning another trip there in the summer in the car with friends but a part of me is tempted to take the RXS all the way and have a few days to myself, could be fun (but could also be very dull..)

Hope you enjoy going, when you ride where do you normally go, you go all the way to Amsterdam or stop somewhere nearer?

I ride all the way, from what i understand Rotterdam etc can be cheaper but i know amsterdam well and like to visit my certain spots.

TBH the ride there is boring and almost entirely motorways, but whenever i have ridden its been for the mission rather than a holiday type thing so that keeps you going. Personally i wouldent do it on less than a 600 just because the only thing that is remotely fun on such long motorway runs is triple digit speeds. Mind you i got a 100 euro speeding fine in Belgium for that, on the spot... Still beats 6points/ban.

Im really tempted to post some of what i feel are foolproof methods here but i wont because the less people that do it the better my chances are Middle Finger Laughing

I know ill enjoy this trip, I havent even been near weed since new years eve, my tolerance should be gone now, i imagine getting totally licked of one pull/bonghit, want to give the old volcano vaporizer a go too...

Razz
