hi.. i have a derbi gpr 50 2007
everything was fine till last week when my little sister came running into my room and said sam your bikes starting up. and so it was, my keys were in my hand and the starter motor was spinning. how this was i dont know Confused
but all my electrics still wirk but my starter motor, i can hear my relay click when i try it, but nothing else. and like i said, it started with no keys...

any ideas how to fix my starter motor?

unfamiliar with the specific bike, but a common issue of runaway starters is stuck solenoids. Often, once you disconnect the battery to stop the starter running away, the solenoid will be dead and no start.

IF your start solenoid is easy to access, you might try disconnecting the starter lead from it, and placing a test lamp in line.

had the same problem with mine after the first time I took it out in the rain

the starter motor was running constantly & burnt out, had the motor, solenoid, & right hand switch gear (for another reason) changed, hasn't done it since

I would suspect your solenoid terminals are touching something & shorting out

the solenoid is wired straight to the battery so if it's shorting on something it would turn your motor over regardless of if the keys are in

mine used to do it every time I went over a bump aswell as if I took it out in the rain

the solenoid is in line to the starter there's no fuse to blow

I think we're talking cross purposes here

I do mean the relay, I just always call it a solenoid when I'm talking about a starter system
