 |
|
It's very close to the runout limit of 0.03mm. (I think the official engineering term is exactly one midges ballhair off at 0.028mm). So it'll get through this MOT but only just.
There is 4.1mm of disc left. The service limit is 3.5mm.
Enough meat there to be bothering with? I'm not sure how much gets taken off when they do a skim?
EDIT: Probably looking at £30-40 for skimming. £230 for new discs. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

can you not find someone with a big enough lathe?, if it was mine i would turn it so it just scratched the surface off the lowest bit and you do have .6m to play with which to a good bloke is plenty. say take 0.08 in total maybe.
just me and i would do anything to avaoid paying that much for new discs ____________________ Hyosung cruise 125(passed test on, sold) Kawasaki el 252 (better than expected but sold on) Kawasaki GPZ500S first "big"bike.(sold) ZZR600 E5..Z750 2007,ER5, currently on a 2008 Enfield bullet electra x and loving it..

I should have phrased that differently.
It'll get through the MOT this time with a small argument as to how significant the slow speed pulsing of the brake lever is on the rolling road. I can categorically state it's within service limits and I know the tester well enough that he'll believe me.
However, it WILL pulse. It did last year and it's worse now. No problem at higher speeds but I really ought to do something about it.
I'l pop it in for a skim and if it lands up too thin, I'll just have to get new ones.
I'm planning to swap the forks and callipers for a VTR front end in the near future so I don't really want to be fitting new pads only to throw them in the bin after a couple of thousand miles when I fit 4-pot callipers (it's a VFR750). ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Erk - well should be a few around as I thought storm owners often tried to swap them for blade ones etc . |
