From what I've heard, they are automatic chain lubrication systems. Saves you having to manually spray on lube all the time. You'll probably find it somewhere near the engine-end of the chain and a tank that you need to fill up with chain lube.

Hi

The scottoiler is an automatic chain lubrication system.
They were designed to work using the vaccum from the carbs to suck lube onto the chain. You set the flow rate depending on the type of rides you do most often.
The new ones have started using and electric pump i think so that it's not lubricating the chain while you're not moving.
This may have to do with new bikes moving to fuel injection, but I don't know too much about how they work.
You'll find a reservoir somewhere which you must fill and if it's been fitted properly it'll do the rest.

Manufacture gives you loads of information about how, what & where......

Very handy piece of kit, but I have found it better to oil the top run of the chain when you only have a single point injector.

Massively extends the life of your chain. I ran one when I was a courier, covering ridiculous mileages. The only change I made was to fit an extra reservoir for more oil capacity. Don't bother buying their oil though. Pretty much any oil will do but normal engine oil does not flow too well in the winter. Use thinner oil.
Keep an eye on how well oiled your chain is, and how much splatter gets on your tyre - adjust the flow rate accordingly - do not oil your tyre!
