Hi there, I have a couple of questions

Can anyone tell me what mirrors I need that isn't completely useless like the original but doesn't vibrate to bits like other mirrors I have tried?

Also the previous owner of the bike managed to crack the thread in the sump so it's leaking oil. I'm wondering what the best way is to fix that. c_dug you know who you are.

Thanks people!

I had a '91 GPZ500, and I seem to remember that you could get rubber bung type fittings that attached to the base of the standard mirrors.
To be honest though, I never really found an effective way to reduce the vibration on those mirrors.

As for the sump thread, you may need to overbore / re-tap the thread and use a larger size sump plug

I think one of the GPX mirrors (maybe the 600?) have a longer stem on them and fit on. There were various pattern ones that claimed to give a view of something other than your elbows back in the day.

For the plug. Order a new oil pan gasket. Drain the oil, remove the sump plate. Take it to an engineering shop and get them to fit a helicoil. Reattach it.

I did you screencaps from the workshop manual, it is not a tricky job. Just make sure those o-rings are in the right place when you reassemble it.

You shouldn't need to touch the relief valve. Leave it be.
