Hi
Due to a stupid misshap i now have light gravel rash to an engine casing. Its not damaged, just marked where it was laid down on the road quite gently.

Any ideas who would be able to repaint it back to original? Not sure if its possible but i'm thinking similar to a 'chips away' type repair to a car?

Its going to get hot as its just above the oil sightglass and below the filler.

Cheers
Nick

Just fit a new case if you're that bothered abou it. OE cases are dirt cheap on ebay.

Use a high temperature paint such as those from Halfords if you are concerned, use a suitable primer first though - both are available in a spray can, the primer wont need to be heat resistant, just normal aluminium primer.

I remember a post by stinkwheel using Plastikote BBQ paint in rattle cans, had a good finish:

I replaced the alternator cover on my s4 it cost me about £35 for the casing from Triumph. By a replacement it will be cheaper than getting someone to fix it.

Thanks for the feedback!

I did ask Honda for a price for the casing .... they wanted over 300 quid!

I read the title "Repaint engine cover - whilst on bike?" and thought.....wouldnt it be easier if you got off the bike to do it?

Maybe you could do it whilst getting your knee down for extra points?

I'll get me coat....

This is the same Honda that ask for £80 for a wheel spindle and £20 for the nut that goes on the end, buy a used one from a breakers or from eBay.

As someone said above, Liquid Metal is good & sands down nicely. Repainted with some silver high temp paint from a car shop.
