Just a quickie to help my bro, he has a CBR600f 2001

There are some kind of honda lock nuts on there atm holding the rear sprocket on, is it ok to change them to some nylon lock nuts (half the thread is nylon) to save buying some overpriced honda ones?

Just wondering if they can handle the torque as well as the honda ones

Cheers

Decent quality nylok nuts should be fine. You might want a washer under them because as I recall, the original ones will be shouldered nuts.

The stud is weaker than the nut that goes on it anyway.

I would only use lock washers on rear sprocket nuts as I've seen nylocs/the like come undone. If you do use nylocs, put a bit of thread lock on as well, to reduce the chance of the nuts working undone.

For reasons I wont go into here. If you have torqued them up to the correct tension, they shouldn't come undone anyway. The nylok is just the icing on the cake.

The original nylok style nuts honda fit as standard are pretty half-arsed affairs as it is. Not much in the way of nylon or lock about them.
