You'll either be a leave it on or a turn it off bloke.
Mine is on all the time. I know the risks Smile

As for pulling away on a 2T. You'll get there and your clutch slipping skills will improve.

I start with full choke..it fires...i push choke in a bit till it will run slower without stalling. I get on and ride. If it bogs down on throttle i ease more choke off. After about 2mins i can knock the choke off.

[edit] good tip if you flood it is to turn choke off. Open throttle 3/4 and start.

Choke on when you start up while putting your lid etc on then off when you start riding. Take it easy until the bike warms up.

Thats what I do Thumbs Up

As for loads of revs to move, I thought 2 strokes were meant to be like that? (chives will know better)

With my first bike I stalled it lots, you'll find that bite point soon enough and after a little while will be able to sort it all out without thinking about it.

Just keep at it Thumbs Up

Laughing

My 250 isn't too bad, but then again, it's got twice the cubic capacity.

You may just think you're revving it up loads but you're not. As has been pointed out, just slip the clutch for longer. You'll get used to it.

With regards to the fuel tap, I just got into the habit of turning it off whenever I stopped, just like turning the ignition off. Now I have a bike with a vacuum tap I'll probably forget if/when I start riding the Chaly.

Fuel tap I'd leave on unless you're leaving it for a couple of weeks.

Slip the clutch in first.

It's better to over rev than to under rev.

Full choke at first, than half choke, then turn it off and ride.

(This what I did with a 2 stroke 125, from memory, without any problems.)
