Ive already got a Halfords one but this seems good value, can't comment on quality though!

Got some other stuff too, trolleys, sanders, toolbox, spanners, soldering etc.

i've got 1 exactly the same except the box is black,bought it off a shop on ebay for about £50

its pretty good for all the basics and has some good little attachments

This is the same set they sell at Wemoto for £50-60. It's a good set, 1/4 and 1/2 inch and includes deep sockets and torx bits etc. Only thing I will say is the ratchets are toss. The 1/4 seized up on my Dad and the 1/2 wouldn't retain a socket. However once I replaced the ratchets with better ones the rest of the stuff is decent quality.

IME the stuff that lidl usually sell is pretty good, the occasional tool is utter shite but on the whole not bad .

I got the same set for a similar price several years ago on ebay.
It's not amazing, but probably has more useful things in than the expensive Halfords set.
Think the only thing that's failed in mine is the 1/4" ratchet.

I bought a socket set from Halfords nearly 20 years ago and is still going strong now...good as any snap on tools i've got

I've used the big Halfords sets plenty of times thus my comment - they're ok, but don't have as much metric socketry/bits than the above set and are 12 point.

The above with a cheapish 6 - 32mm spanner set would definitely make a decent good and cheap start to a tool set.

I quite fancy the ring spanner set Aldi have as they're the off-set kind.

as a car tech there is nothing better than snap on or mac but i use them day in day out i've broken many knuckles using cheap tools

to do the odd thing here and there tho they are ok.

I paid around £40 for mine a couple of years ago - if you can still find them for that price, definitely worth the extra.
You can select whether to use one or two lights on each side.
The low power bulbs seem to be a bit more durable than the normal 500w ones which are pretty fragile when hot - not getting silly-hot is another benefit.

My dad has the socket set but with another brand slapped on top. All the sockets are of good quality, but the ratchets are only really good for light - moderate use.

It does come with every bit you will probably need inc. spark plug sockets if I recall.

Bloody fantastic! I'm a broke student and as a result have had to make do with a limited set of spanners when I'm away from home (and my dad's tool collection).

I have a couple of really cheap rubbish ratchets that have been knackered.

I keep them and use them pretty much as mini breaker bars now, then use a better quality working ratchet to loosen it off. You could always use a closed ring spanner to do this, but if you don't have that spanner and only have a socket then it's useful rather than abusing your semi decent ratchets.

this may or may not be worthwhile depending on how good your "good" ratchet is.

What I'm trying to say is that even if the ratchets do get knackered easily and sieze solid, don't chuck them out because they're always useful if you need to try and force something off.
