 Posted: 11:50 - 02 Jun 2010 Post subject: Chain mileage |
 |
|
I've bought a ZX-6R and it was fitted with a new chain and sprocket by Kawasaki when I bought it. I've travelled just short of 1000 miles since but I was wondering... what is the recommended mileage for a chain or chain and sprocket change on these bikes?
I didn't get a manual with my purchase (I'm ordering one) so I cannot check this unfortunately. Any advice would be appreciated!!
Thanks peoples!! |

Yep it all depends on the amount of power you use day to day.
I still have the original chain on my 08 R1 and has covered 8 trackdays, lots of hoons, 2 trips to Le Mans and back a total of 17000 miles to date and it still has plenty of life left in in. And I am not light handed with the bike

Chain and sprockets should be as a must replaced as a set, a worn sprocket on new chain will ruin it quickly |

I'm not thrashing the bike, I'm riding steady cos I need it as my main form of transport. So it looks like I've got a fair few miles in the chain yet!! Thank you |
