Slight Overinflation of front tyre - big difference!

How sensitive should my bike be to tyre pressures?

At 25psi it feels just right. The other day I overinflated to about 28 and it felt skittish and didn't want to go round corners.

Is this normal or does it point to something wrong?

Very much depends on what tyre your running, and the temperature outside, but most tyres are run at around 30 - 35psi anyway.

Pirelli City Demons. Just didn't feel nice at all running at 28 (having said that I also used a petrol station pump rather than a digital gauge and footpump so may be a few PSI more anyway...)

Sounds like its more in your head than the actaul tyre, I can image 3 psi making very little difference.

I'm unable to tell soometimes up to 10 pis difference

The front end on my Power Pures did feel different at 35psi over 32psi, but I find tyre pressures seem to effect these Michelin's alot more then my Pierelli Corsa III's I had on before, the back end seem to brake away a bit sooner aswell. But to be honest, 25psi is quite low anyway, I can't see taking them up to only 28psi is going to make a negative effect. If your not happy just take them back down to 25psi!

I can tell if i make small changes, mainly on the front as it's changing the profile of the tyre abit, if i run anything below 30 and it's not a warm day turn in feels sluggish and the bike feels crap imo.

course it could just be in my head but meh

25psi is the correct figure for the GN250 front tyre.

Being a cross ply it will likely need different pressures and respond rather differently to a radial.

Same goes with suspension etc, I couldnt tell if it was soft/hard/saggy/spongy. I just ride a bike until I get to scared to go any faster

On tyre pressues, my manual says 24 and 28 but I am now running Pirelli city demons so should I up the pressures or do I just play around with what feels right?

Apparently from mcn or something similar i read about bike maintainance is 4PSi is enough of a pressure change to alter the handling of the bike enough to be noticeable!

I got told that 28R 25F for my GSX550 was too low and that is why the tyres lasted less than 5000 miles. They were BT45's.

The back one was squared, my fault for using motorways but the front tread was starting to crack and stick out in the parts that came from the centre of the tyre.


Anyway, the garage said to put 42R 36F. Not risking blowouts, I lowered it to 36R 34F and the bike handled well. I am keeping an eye on the back one as the tread pattern is that which will start to seperate from the tyre as it wears.

Why would 42 be risking a blowout? I was running racetech k1s and supercorsas on my rf900 at 38 and 44psi, made the turn in much better.

i had both tyres slightly over inflated when warm

made the bike feel shit. after adjustment.. was all good again!

I've had both of my tires at 35 / 40PSI before and I'm happy to report it didn't feel any different even though far above what they were supposed to be. That said, this is a CG, so what I've just said is quite null and void what it comes to handling.

I did however give me some extra MPG and possibly speed

will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.

On the cbr, I used to use 36f 42r, but found that just a couple extra psi in the front madse the bike turn in better, maybe it was in my head but i'm sure it made a difference.

when i first rode my NSR, (straight to the petrol station to pump up the tires i might add) the front was sporting a hefty 14psi

They are more concerned with cracks in the sidewalls.
