Hi, fitted a new chain and sprockets about 100 miles ago, noticed when I was setting the chain tension that one part was slightly tighter (about 10mm of slack difference) than another part.

I assumed it would stretch even after a few miles of riding but the difference still exists. Is it normal to have a mild tight spot on a brand new chain?

Thats is not normal. The chain may have been stored for a while and so the protective coating may have degraded and due to that a link has become dry.

Try giving it a good lube, but keep a close eye on it Thumbs Up

Im pretty certain all chains have slight tight spots (hence why you should adjust them at the tightest spot) 10mm isnt really alot either.

But then again i dont know what it should be like after only 100 miles? But both my ybr and my SV's chains have slight tight spots.

Hmmm....

It just seemed wierd for a brand new chain to have a tight spot. I have given it a good oiling before I last went out so it must be something to do with the actual chain. If it has a tight/loose spot now then in 15k miles it might be MUCH more pronounced...

Reckon I should get onto the shop and have a moan?
