Recently bought a zx7r that was a Cat C, mechanically everything is fine, it was pretty much all cosmetic damage.

this was it before the accident, i aim to try and get it back to that condition.

here is what it was like when i got it

https://i.ebayimg.com/14/!BclhdfwBGk~$(KGrHqYOKiYEq5JiH)8oBK1JIjqTvg~~_12.JPGhttps://i.ebayimg.com/06/!BclhfEQ!Wk~$(KGrHqIOKjIEq4!6GOC0BK1JIp6NfQ~~_12.JPG

damage was around the front right hand side of the fairings, mirrors and left hand side foot hanger.

List of bits i need to buy

Mirrors
foot Hanger
mirror brace

thats what is either missing or totally damaged

going to get the fairings looked at to see if they are repairable, downpipes are awfully rusty as well so will remove them to see if cleaning them has any point or if i should just replace it.

electrics are a bit untidy but work however im going to try and make it neater.

hopefully i will get it sorted within 3 weeks.

also i have spotted rearsets on ebay but they stay that they are not made for road use and dont set off the brake light, is it hard to make them work on the road?

if your trying to repair the fairing on a budget use plastex really good stuff, the only problem you might have is if you have to make up or repair the lugs.

the front fairings seem to be quite pricey on ebay, maybe you'll strike lucky and find one cheap.

for the rearsets you could get a hanger/bracket welded on for the brake switch.

a bit of elbow grease and you'll have yourself a stunnin bike mate.

the previous owner is selling me bits and bobs, a seat cowl, rear hugger, crash bungs and all the old docs for the bike.

was under the assumption that welding a foot hanger wouldnt work too well since it has to support your whole body weight?. tried looking on ebay but can only find right hand side ones Sad

You can get banjo bolts that act as brake light switches so you don't need one on the hanger.

my god the electrics at the back of the bike is a mess, wires everywhere, wrapped up in shopping bags, luckily its only the brake light/indicators that are a mess so im going to be redoing all that and having it done nicely. theres also no space under the seat as it just has the cans so will try and get a sheet of metal fabricated to allow some storage space under the seat.

headlight has all its lugs broken so going to get someone to try and sort that out aswell as the fairings.

my fzr is now gone so have a lot more space for the bike to work on now Smile

looks stunning, no surprise about the electrics though, custom builds always seem to neglect them for some reason.

how much did you pay, if you dont mind me asking.

Looked good (pre crash).

The exhaust pipe coming out of the side looks smashing.

Good luck.

electrics were a bit of a mess but iv'e taken it all apart and going to reroute all the wires and put on proper connectors and insulate the wires. also going to try and try and make some under seat storage space, the only space available is next to the battery under the riders seat.

paid £1200 for it, ordered new led indi mirror, new fairing flush indicators and getting foot hanger welded on tuesday hopefully. going to phone around about getting fairings repaired and order a new mirror brace. if everything arives on time and i get bits welded, repaired and replaced i should have it road legal in around 2 weeks.

going to post office tomorrow to pick up the forms to order the logbook

update

Got the logbook fairly quickly, was like 2 weeks i reckon. sorted out the electrical problems with the indicators. discovered the led indicators wouldnt work on the front connections so swapped those over with new ones.

removed the led strip on the rear of the bike as it seemed pretty tacky, replaced them with flush fitting indicators that are using the holes left over from the grab rails.

got a seat cowel, rear hugger and crash bungs from previous owner. had to replace the clock bracket as the original was bent. ordered new clock brace, harris screen brace.

took the fairings to get repaired and got them back today, also got the lugs on the clocks plastic welded back on.

hopefully if i get out of class early tomorrow i might get it back together before work then try and get it mot'd for friday Very Happy

heres the bike put back together

https://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt349/Kaiser_Damz/100_1461.jpg

everything seems ok, electrics are behaving and have been tidied up, fairings seem to fit together all right and it starts with no hesitation.

pipes are pretty rusty so might replace them with stainless steel pipes towards xmas
