The bike: Kawasaki ZX7R
The problem: Tokico 6 pots on front and single on the rear.

I sent the bike in to have the front brake pads replaced and system re-bled, and rear pads replaced.
The front apparently went pretty well, I have had them refurbished about 6 months ago now with new seals so i knew they weren’t bad.

The rear unfortunately was a bitch of a job. This is because I’ve been through two sets of fronts in the time it took to wear out a set on the rear. They couldn’t get the pins out so they had to force one out and the other was knocked out by drilling a small hole behind it to push it through.
The pads were replaced but they said the seals are a little swollen due to being pretty old now, so my rear brake is binding, only slightly.
I took the bike out from the garage and went for a spin.
So the back brake is binding, after a mile I got off the bike to check it out, the disc was hot enough to melt the hard plastic on my gloves knuckle.
Now the front seemed fine but when i got back to my place i bent down to check the discs, the front right disc wasn’t hot at all, but the left one was really hot!

I haven’t bed them in at all in the distance i travelled but i want to know if i should not ride the bike until i sort out a few things, or just see how i go with them like this.

There is a risk that the rear brake will lock up, I know from experience Rolling Eyes.

Are you sure the front was bled correctly? Its not unusual for the disc to get really hot so I wouldn't be too worried about the left hand side unless it was binding. Personally I'd pump the brakes a few times, hold the lever in and just crack the nipple open on the right just to be sure. Just remember to wrap a rag around it before you open up the bleed nipple just in case!

I second this. Especially on a 50cc piece of crap Peogeot scooter (in the rain). At full speed Cool

Binding brakes are bad news, Geri off here boiled his fluids at over 130 and took a bit of a tumble along Elvington.

Not to mention warping the disc which will make more problems.

The brake is binding as the pads are pressed up against the disc causing friction. This heats the the disc and causes it to expand, pressing it harder onto the disc. As said above eventually this WILL lock the wheel. I had it happen on the front once that was NOT fun in any way at all. Performing an emergency stop that is not only unexpected to other drivers and yourself, but doesn't show a brake light can seriously fuck you up.

When the disc heated up it will have forced the pistons back a tiny bit or helped wear the pads down a bit. This may give you enough free play to get the caliper off, provided it's not worn the disc down so it has a lip.

Pump the pistons out as far as you can while fluid is still in the system. Once piston will probably come out more. Clamp this one and pump the other stiffer one out first. Changing the seals is a 10 minute job and the seals can be bought from most bike shops. It's better to ride without a rear brake than one that might lock the rear completely unexpectedly.

kwak brakes always seem to fail or rust if you use your bike in all weathers..

if your back brake is catching.. do not use it, if you need to, take off the caliper,
force the cylinders back in the caliper by using a small piece of wood and some clamps, to do this relieve the pressure by taking the top off the fluid reservoir, or simply open the bleed valve ( this is a bit messy but if you do it when the clamps in place its easier..

if it goes back in your fine..ideally you need to give it a proper clean and replace the pistons and rubbers, or if you can clean them up so that they are spotless, any lines etc run your nail over and if your nail snags they need replacing..

if you need your bike desperately, make sure the pads are off the disc with ample room to move and then disconnect the caliper, so that you cant use it..

the front discs means ones not been bled 100% or the pads are worn differently, best bet is to bleed them first, then see if you have the same problem,
it could be that the pistons are also catching on the front, so repeat what i said for the front one thats catching, under normal riding conditions front discs shouldnt be getting warm,

hope this helps, but might not...
