Probably as an RFID chip in it, mine used to have one underneath the lip of the rim.

Why the fuck would a bin have an RFID chip in it. Are the government like monitoring me. Should I wear a tinfoil helmet so they can't read my thoughts.

The plan was or is that bin lorries be equipped with RFID readers and the thing it gets hooked on is upgraded so that it will weigh the contents of your bin.

More weight = bigger council tax bill for waste disposal.

it was supposed to be for encouragement of recycling as if you recycled everything you would presumably not get charged for waste collection (yeah right).

I wasn't in it as such lmao. No I was getting the bin back in from the back lane and was putting some rubbish in it. It's stamped into the lid of the bin. I noticed it and thought why has the bin got a Db sign in it.
