Different end can will help. If you have a standard end can then you might have some internal problems. Generally 50's are bought be inexperienced newbies who register on here the next day asking how to derestrict it with the assistance of a cordless drill. The average person through hearing average road cars, and seeing formula 1 on TV has made the connection that loud = fast, all 18 year olds want the fastest bike known to man and will probably pick the louder 50 every time |

Can you remove the end of the silencer?
Often the bit with a hole in is held on by screws or rivets around the edge.
If you can take it off, its possible that some-one previousely took it off, and 'forgot' to put the packing back in....
again, ideas of loud=fast.
You can buy fibre-glass exhaust paking, if you have a look around, but its basically the same stuff as luft insulation.
for the amount you need, lifting the hatch to your attic and pulling a few tufts out the insulation should provide ample to take a bit of the sting out the sound!

Hi
The padding is often sold in moto cross bike shops. Over time the stuff compresses (from absorbing the noise and being soaked in oil / petrol residue) and lands up absorbing less noise and needs replacing.
If you want a short term bodge then use glass fibre loft insulation (it is a lot finer, but will do the job for a short while).
Also check if there is any kind of seal at the end that has worn out. Eg, on my TZR250 there is a foam ring around the end of the baffle to seal it against the rest of the can. This also compresses and starts to leak.
Can you post a piccy of the exhaust and baffle?
All the best
