Can anyone give me some info please?
The cat on my r1 gets damn hot and I've been told to get a y pipe to replace it. Im going to get another cat and gutt it so it looks original.
My question is. Will it make any problems or lights come on?

Thanks

No.

It's just a box of platinum sat in the exhaust.

You'll need to check if the section you're removing as any EXUP valves or gubbins(look for the servo motor in that section), but I don't think it does.

I think they are relatively expensive, as they contain platinum... Why not just buy an aftermarket de-cat pipe. It's just a piece of stainless tubing, shouldn't look out of place.
Also, see here;

The search function is your friend. (I actually found that using google).

Yes, as the cat's pretty restrictive so it would be wise. You'll gain a fair bit of power (and noise) by dumping the cat if teamed up with a remap.

I too have been looking into this, and it will run fine without a remap. But it will work better if remapped i.e. more power Wink

It should be a straight swap etc. Been looking at the Acropovic link pipes on Ebay, they tend to go for £100 - £120.

Regards the look you are on about, there is that plastic shroud covering it anyway, so you wont lose any looks at all if you swap it. Only if you bend down and look underneath from the left hand side.
