I think it's fucking brilliant!! Laughing I've always liked SR's.

Anyway, it's taxed & tested, but as you can see needs a few liiiiitle bits tidying up! Razz

After these photos were taken we set on it with a wire brush and wire wool, and were pleased to find shiney bits lurking under that rust Shocked

Watch this space for hopefully some wow-inducing 'after' pics...

I guess you got it CHEAP considering it looks like it's gonna cost a lot of money to get it back standard and tidy looking!

Show us the shiny bits!!!!

Gonna need some work and love but it looks like a good place to start from. I love SR125's, I passed my test on one and that bike was fun, an absolute pig to ride but fun Very Happy.

I know mudskipper wont mind the thread hijack so here goes.

Iv been looking for a cheap bike to use while i take my zxr to bits and attempt my first valve clearance adjustment and i happened across this little beauty for sale ( thanks again mudskipper Thumbs Up i got there in the end Very Happy ).

My plan is a simple one first tidy the bike up and then when iv finally sorted my other i want to turn this in to an old fashioned looking green laner ( nobbly tires , raise the mudguard a bit etc ).

With the bike collected this afternoon and one quick trip to halfords later i set to work stripping it down and giving it a bloody good clean up.

Iv seperated the engine now and started giving it a coat of heat proof black paint and pictures will follow as soon as my little girl is back from her school trip with the digital camera.

Issues that need addressing are :-
* No airbox ( thinking of using an after market cone shaped one )
* Forks are badly pitted and leaking ( not a clue on this one they seem to be extremely hard to get hold of )
* Electrics (shouldnt be to bad although already come across a couple of traped and possibly broken wires)
* Paintwork ( im going with lonewolf and the white and red with this )
* Seat ( going to have to loose some of that padding and try and make it fit the line of the bike )
*Brakes ( front brake is impossible to press and the wont release )

Sorry for the essay everyone but my first bike was an sr and im really enjoying the chance to get hold of one again.

Just a quick update as between work, illness and the kids i havent really been documenting this as i should.

So far iv stripped and repainted the whole bike, changed the fork seals and got it back into one piece.

I still have to recover the seat with alot less padding in it and somehow sort these electrics out so something more than just the brake light works. Yes i am tight and im trying to do it without paying for a manual Very Happy .

Also the bike will now bump off but wont start on the button (just a single click) and iv tried a new battery with the same results.

appologies for the pictures i used a really crappy camera phone to take them and ill update with better ones on my next day off.

I thought i would do one final update on the little sr.

When i finally finished her she was looking quite good if i do say so myself gleaming white with red yamaha decals, sadly this didnt last long enough to even get any photos. On her first run out she got backed over by a bus, que right off and quite a bit of work to repair what was damaged in the accident.

My son took her out and within the hour had managed to slide down the road a fair way scraping and knackering the bike again. I was by this time feeling slightly jinxed, and didnt want to spend the rest of my life sanding and repainting the bloody thing.

Deciding the best course of action was just to have a bike for the commute and sod how it looks i broke out the hammerite and attacked her with a paint brush. After another new headlight and the addition of some luggage space she went off for mot.

One new set of front wheel bearings later i have a 12 month ticket Very Happy

Shes not pretty but i find she has a certain charm.

I appologise for the quality of the pictures they are from my phone

Nice! I'm guessing you were bluffing about the hammerite? That's an awesome paint job and the bike looks great.

that is one dam nice bike and it rides well too, lol long time since i rode that one but it gave me a few nice rides while i had her,

i am glad she is back up and on the road i know by the time and money you have put in that you will love her and take care of her,

this is how she looked when i got her
https://www.nightshaddow.150m.com/pics/me1.JPG

but after a electrical fire in the headlamp i had to bodge her up a bit, then i had a power wash incident ie i washed the paint off which slowly led to its demise, i brought her back up a bit and put her through a test shortly after she found the loving home she has now,

top job, take care, ride safe
